Student Services
Student Orientation
Student Orientation, a programme that is required for all new and transfer students, will help you prepare for your transition into tertiary education as well as the expectations, challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Students are highly encouraged to attend the Student Orientation programme so that you will be welcomed and introduced to NAA, learn about University resources and processes, and briefed on the Student Handbook. You will also receive an orientation pack comprising useful documents.
Academic and Professional Counseling
Students enrolled in NAA may seek academic counselling services from the University via NAA. Students may request assistance to schedule a consultation with the appropriate academic staff at the university to discuss and address any academic concerns. Where cases are deemed to require more than academic advice, such as professional counselling services, Student Services Team can advise the student on the available university or external resources. Please contact Student Services Team at studentservices@naa.edu.sg.
Student Development Workshops
The Student Services Department at NAA works hand in hand with the University and Professional Training Providers to bring to our students useful workshops on academic writing and study skills that will allow you to plan and carry out your coursework and assessments effectively, allowing you to realise your potential and to achieve academic success on your course during your time at NAA.
For more information on future workshops, please visit What’s Happening here.
Student-Staff Dialogue (SSD)
Student representatives (SRs) are nominated from the student body to participate in SSD Sessions. The SRs will provide feedback or suggestions received from their classmates and discuss issues of concern with our NAA Management team. These sessions will be held 2 – 3 times a year. Student representatives play an important role in contributing towards understanding and improving student experiences.
Student Policies
At Ngee Ann Academy we are committed to providing a quality learning environment. In order to provide necessary academic support and to maximise the student learning experience, we maintain a well-balanced teacher-student ratio:
Tutorial and workshops – 1:50
Lecture – 1:100
It is the policy of NAA that mobile phones are to be switched to “silent” mode before a class commences. This will ensure a quality teaching environment for all students. Any student who fails to comply with this policy and whose phone interrupts the class will be asked to leave the class immediately by the lecturer/tutor.
NAA has a Dispute Resolution Policy that is aligned with the Dispute Resolution stipulated by SSG. NAA welcomes feedback and complaints from students, parents and guardians, staff, partner organisations, recruitment agents and the public at large.
NAA maintains the Dispute Resolution Policy as a managed platform for students to provide valuable feedback on their experience with NAA. The various ways of providing feedback is communicated to the students via the Student Orientation, Student Handbook and NAA website.
It is in NAA’s policy that each feedback is appropriately acknowledged and addressed. NAA is committed to ensuring that a complaint/grievance is resolved within fifteen (15) working days* upon receiving the complaint/grievance.
* Definition of working day excludes weekends and public holidays.
Where students are not satisfied with the outcome from NAA’s internal grievance process, they can seek redress via the SSG Mediation-Arbitration Scheme here. For assistance on Dispute Resolution, please approach the Student Services Team or email to studentservices@naa.edu.sg.

NAA’s cybersecurity policy defines the principles, roles, and controls to protect our information systems and data from cyber threats, unauthorised access, and disruptions. It aims to safeguard data confidentiality and integrity, reduce cyber risks, comply with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012, and establish clear responsibilities and incident reporting procedures.
The policy applies to all users with ICT access; including staff, students, contractors, vendors, and covers all ICT infrastructure across on premise, cloud, and remote environments. Cybersecurity governance is overseen through NAA’s ICT committees, with implementation by the ICT Department and shared responsibility among all users.
Key controls include strict access management based on least privilege, strong authentication practices (including MFA where available), and immediate revocation of access when roles end. Systems and networks are protected through firewalls, monitoring, endpoint security, patching, and vulnerability management. Email and remote access security measures are enforced to mitigate phishing and malware risks.
The policy also mandates proper data protection, secure storage and encryption of sensitive information, and compliance with data protection laws. All cybersecurity incidents must be promptly reported for investigation and mitigation. NAA reserves the right to monitor ICT activities for security and compliance, and violations may result in disciplinary or legal action.

Academic Writing Support
Why do we write?
Academic writing, whether used in the arts and social sciences or in healthcare, science and technology, is all about communication. A major aspect of studying a university degree is setting yourself apart from others in your chosen field of study. Indeed, studying at university serves to not only teach students about the facts of their field of study, but also develops students into functioning members of a professional global community. At the heart of this community is the need to communicate clearly and effectively.
While the fact that you will face assignments with specific due dates may make it seem like each of these is an event in and of itself, this could not be further from the truth. In fact, successful writing usually requires ongoing involvement in the development of your written work not simply thrashing out a 2,000 word essay 2 hours before it is due. This means that successful writing is all about planning. Only this way is one able to generate structured, logical and well-referenced work that is able to demonstrate an effective fulfilment of the learning outcomes.
What is this resource for?
Some people find writing very easy. Sadly, however, many of us find writing a challenging (if not daunting!) task. Additionally, not everybody has the same difficulties when it comes to writing. When browsing through this resource feel free to focus on the areas that you, or your teacher, feel that you are weakest. Some of the aspects of writing that are addressed here include:
• Understanding expectations and interpreting topics
• Developing and effective writing strategy
• Structuring your written work correctly
• Researching and formulating your “story” and providing evidence
• Writing in an appropriate style
• Reviewing and submitting your work
How can I get more help?
Should you still find yourself struggling with academic writing, or other aspects of your study, it is highly recommended that you approach your lecturer, subject coordinator or the Academic Dean at Ngee Ann Academy to make an appointment. Don’t be shy!
