I decided to pursue the Bsc in Nursing programme at King’s College University as it is accredited by the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) and was ranked 1st in the world for Nursing. The programme would allow me to pursue a reputed degree qualification right here in Singapore, and an honours’ degree even as a full-time working individual. Additionally, the curriculum is comprehensive, and the skills and knowledge being taught in the various modules have proven to be extremely valuable in my career. Moreover, the lecturers at King’s have many years of professional expertise and knowledge, which has been beneficial in helping me understand new concepts and theories that are being taught in the programme.
In the module Advanced Assessment Skills and Clinical Decision Making, I learnt complex decision-making skills that revolved around diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referral. The curriculum allowed me to develop deductive reasoning and critical thinking skills, which is especially important in my workplace as an inpatient nurse in General Medicine, as I which requires me to promptly recognise clinical signs of deterioration in my patients and implement relevant interventions accordingly.
I have been experiencing a wonderful time as a NAA/King’s College University student as I get to meet different individuals within the field and learn from their experience, alongside the curriculum being taught. The lecturers have been approachable and understanding as they are always receptive to questions, regardless of the hectic schedules we might have.
